OKKITO HOUSES
About
Okkito aims to explore and negotiate the potential of an imageless and unmediated form of housing in Istanbul. Okkito differentiates within its research environment and critisizes housing policies, approaches to the liberal network of estate, competing with private and foreign companies for land and its reflections in the urban fabric.
Okkito tries to increase public awareness of living in the city and departs from the view that Istanbul urbanite knows how to live and construct his/her environment. It puts forward the creative perceiver, or the dweller or instead of the former user.
Construction
2 houses are constructed in a district of Sefakoy, Istanbul after the drawing held by Okkito in December 2009 within sponsors.
Okkito uses latest light gauge steel structure and membrane technologies. Houses vary from 7 m2 to 25 m2 with a maximum height of 2,30m depending on the condition of the land. The garden plot of the houses can be expanded or changed due to respect of the dweller.
Houses are constructed in 1 to 2 days with Okkito assistants depending on weather conditions and are open.
NOTE: Houses are unfurnished.

Qualifications:
For attending the drawing, the applicant has to

. Only one household can apply from a family.
